Police war heroes killed in the East commemorated
Sri Lanka, June 11 -- A commemoration ceremony was held today (11) at the police memorial near the Ampara Police Superintendent's Office to honour police war heroes, marking 36 years since unarmed police officers were killed in the Eastern Province by LTTE terrorists.
Ampara Deputy Inspector General of Police Sujith Wedamulla attended the event as the chief guest.
Acting Officer-in-Charge of the Ampara Division Assistant Superintendent of Police Nuwan Dantanarayana, received the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, the Ampara Deputy Inspector General emphasised that the tragedy remains one of the most unforgettable incidents in the history of the police force.
