Sri Lanka, April 26 -- A social media user successfully regained access to the official Sri Lanka Police Facebook page after appealing to the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL).
Rukshan Priyanath shared a letter via a Facebook post explaining that his account was blocked after he posted comments critical of the police.
He filed a complaint with the HRCSL, arguing that a state institution should not restrict his access and raised concerns regarding freedom of expression.
During the proceedings, officials from the Police Media Division informed the commission that the block was unintentional and suggested it occurred automatically. However, Priyanath noted that Meta Platforms provided no notification of such an automated action...
