Sri Lanka, April 17 -- Police expect to conduct further investigations under detention orders regarding former Member of Parliament Chandana Kathriarachchi, who was arrested yesterday (16) by the Colombo Crimes Division for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.

Police searched his residence in Mampe, Piliyandala, yesterday morning based on a search warrant obtained from the Kesbewa Magistrate's Court, discovering two T-56 magazines, 221 rounds of live T-56 ammunition, and 31 rounds of 84S live ammunition.

Additionally, 103 rounds of 2.2 calibre ammunition used for revolvers and a live hand grenade were found at the location.
