Sri Lanka, Sept. 27 -- Police are set to strictly enforce regulations governing bus priority lanes in Colombo and surrounding areas from September 29, as part of measures to ease traffic congestion during peak hours.

Metro Bus Chairman S.M.U.P. Thilakaratne said the programme covers seven bus priority lanes across the Western Province and is aimed at reducing traffic congestion while helping passengers reach their destinations safely and on schedule.

He also said 104 new luxury Metro buses are scheduled to be introduced from September 29 to improve transport services for passengers travelling to Colombo.
