Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- A police officer deployed for security duties at the Sri Saddharmarajika Temple in Rajagiriya has died from gunshot wounds.

Police suspect that the officer may have died by suicide using his service firearm.

Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
