Sri Lanka, Oct. 5 -- The Police Illegal Assets Investigation Division has issued a temporary order to freeze properties and bank accounts allegedly belonging to the organised crime and drug trafficking suspect Nirmala Prasanga, widely known as 'Backhoe Saman', who was recently arrested in Indonesia.

The asset-freezing order came into effect on October 5, 2026, and will remain valid for 14 working days.

Frozen Assets and Holdings

Investigators revealed that the targeted assets were allegedly acquired and held under the name of a woman identified as Nimanthi Fonseka. The order covers:

A luxury Mercedes-Benz vehicle valued at approximately Rs. 20 million.

Two fixed deposits totaling Rs. 20 million distributed across two private banks. ...
