Sri Lanka, June 11 -- An error by a state bank during the transfer of food, beverage, and accommodation allowances for May for officers of the Seethawaka Police Division resulted in the same allowance being credited twice to the officers' bank accounts.

However, a senior officer of the Seethawaka Police Division has informed officers in writing to withdraw only the allowance they are entitled to for one month and keep the excess amount in their accounts.

It has further been notified that the extra funds credited to the accounts will later be recovered by the bank.
