Sri Lanka, March 5 -- The Supreme Court ruled today (04) that the police violated the fundamental rights of a young man from Aluthgama, Mohamed Milhan, by arresting him under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) for alleged links to ISIS following the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
A three-judge bench comprising Justices Arjuna Obeysekera, Priyantha Fernando, and Sobhitha Rajakaruna delivered the verdict after examining a fundamental rights petition.
Justice Sobhitha Rajakaruna, with the agreement of the other judges, noted that the petitioner was arrested on May 05, 2019, in Aththidiya and subsequently detained for questioning under the PTA.
