Sri Lanka, March 12 -- A President remains in office 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and their role cannot be separated into official or private spheres.

Former Minister Professor G.L. Peiris emphasised this point during a press conference in Colombo, dismissing the ongoing public debate regarding such distinctions as a total myth.

The state maintains an absolute obligation to provide security, transportation, and accommodation for the President regardless of their location or activity.

Professor Peiris noted that whether a leader is traveling abroad, attending a personal event, or even engaging in spiritual practices, they do so with the full weight and protection of their office.
