Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, after appearing before it to give a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation.

The investigation concerns an alleged bribe of 8.1 million rupees.

He had earlier been asked to appear before the Commission on the 9th to give a statement on the matter, but did not do so on that day.
