Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- Perera and Sons Bakers Pvt Ltd (P&S) has issued a public apology to customers following an incident where expired bakery items were displayed for sale at its outlet on St. Benedict's Mawatha, Colombo.

The apology follows a court ruling by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court, which imposed a fine of 200,000 rupees on the company after it pleaded guilty to charges filed by the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA). The prosecution stemmed from a raid conducted by CAA officials on 20 April, during which buns that had expired on 16 April were found displayed for sale.
