Over 81,000 face drinking water shortage amid dry weather
Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- More than 81,000 people are currently facing a drinking water issue due to the dry weather affecting many areas of the island.
The Disaster Management Centre states that the distribution of water via bowsers to the people in those areas has commenced as a result.
The highest impact of the dry weather has been reported from the Monaragala district.
33,023 people in that district are facing the drinking water crisis.
In addition, the Disaster Management Centre mentioned that 81,865 people, including 28,523 in the Batticaloa district, 8,783 in the Ampara district, and 7,876 in the Badulla district are facing this water crisis.
