Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- A formal motion of no confidence has been brought against the Speaker of the Tenth Parliament of Sri Lanka, the Hon. (Dr.) Jagath Wickramaratne. The motion accuses the Speaker of intentionally and deliberately violating essential national legal provisions, including the Constitution, the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, the Offences Against Public Property Act No. 12 of 1982, the Penal Code, the Right to Information Act No. 12 of 2016, the Parliament (Powers and Privileges) Act No. 21 of 1953, the Code of Conduct for Members of Parliament, and parliamentary Standing Orders.
