Sri Lanka, Sept. 26 -- Minister of Health and Media Dr Nalinda Jayatissa stated in Parliament that statements made by the Opposition claiming they will repeal and reverse the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution introduced by the government are completely unconstitutional and cannot simply be carried out.

Speaking during the parliamentary debate yesterday (25), the Minister pointed out that if the Opposition were to come to power and attempt to repeal the 22nd Amendment, they would require a referendum in addition to a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
