Sri Lanka, Oct. 27 -- The Matara Magistrate's Court today issued an open warrant for the immediate arrest of former Minister Basil Rajapaksa regarding a money laundering case related to land fraud in Brown's Hill, Matara.

The warrant came as the suspect, former Minister Basil Rajapaksa, failed to appear before the court for the case related to the incident.

The Matara Chief Magistrate's Court also issued an injunction on the 6th, freezing a one-and-a-half-acre coconut land in the Brown's Hill area in Matara, suspected to belong to former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, for a period of 14 days.

The order followed submissions made to the court regarding the matter by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division.
