Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs states that information regarding an online racket involving the purchase and sale of private photos and certain footage of students and women via social media has been reported.

The ministry mentioned that the disclosed facts were referred to the Police Children and Women's Bureau and the Computer Crime Investigation Division.

The ministry also mentioned that it was identified that many such social media groups are being operated from foreign countries.
