Sri Lanka, Sept. 26 -- A person who was critically injured and hospitalised following an explosion in the gas supply pipeline of the Polonnaruwa Kidney Hospital kitchen early today (26) has died, according to hospital sources.

Police stated that the deceased was a health care assistant.

Seven people sustained injuries in the explosion and were admitted to the Polonnaruwa District General Hospital.

The blast caused severe damage to the building where the hospital kitchen is located.
