Sri Lanka, April 29 -- 34 individuals remain hospitalised following an incident where a passenger bus plunged approximately 35 feet into a precipice on the Dayagama-Hatton Bordes road today (29) evening.

Police Headquarters reported that one person succumbed to injuries after admission to the hospital.

The private bus, travelling from Dayagama toward Hatton, reportedly veered off the road in the Badalgala area while attempting to make way for a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction.

Approximately 40 passengers occupied the bus at the time of the incident, and 34 individuals, including the driver, were admitted to the Dikoya Hospital.

A 70-year-old male resident of Hatton passed away while receiving treatment.
