Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- All office trains commenced their journeys from designated locations despite an ongoing railway worker strike, the Railway Superintendent stated.

The 48-hour strike action commenced at midnight yesterday (16) in protest against the administrative conduct of the General Manager of Railways.

Several trade unions, including train drivers, controllers, and station masters, joined this strike action.

They engaged in this strike against the backdrop of the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Secretary Asiri Karunawardena sending a letter suspending the letter issued by the railway administration against Railway Station Masters' Union General Secretary Kasun Chamara Jayasekara over disciplinary viol...
