Sri Lanka, May 21 -- The Ministry of Health has requested that during the Vesak season, organiaers to set up stalls offering hot beverages instead of soft drink distribution stalls.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena stated that this request has been made because soft drink stalls carry a higher risk of spreading water-borne diseases.

The appeal has also been made in consideration of the spread of infectious diseases currently reported in some parts of the country.
