Sri Lanka, Aug. 31 -- The Rural Development Bureau and the Praja Shakthi National Secretariat, operating under the Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment, have rolled out the Praja Shakthi national poverty eradication initiative.

Backed by a 25 billion rupee allocation from the 2026 Budget, the programme aims to implement at least one development project in every Grama Niladhari division across Sri Lanka.

Nationwide, roughly 15,646 rural development projects worth 22.425 billion rupees have been initiated, with 53.2 percent focused on livelihood development and 46.8 percent dedicated to infrastructure.
