NPP Kegalle councillor remanded
Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- Kandy magistrate Nalaka Weerasinghe today (1) ordered the National People's Power municipal councillor for the Kegalle Municipal Council to be remanded until the 9th of this month in connection with an alleged financial fraud involving 26 million rupees for a cabana project.
The suspect, identified as thirty-four-year-old Kasun Madusankha Bandara, a resident of Kegalle who represents the Olagama ward of the Kegalle Municipal Council, was arrested by the Colombo Central Crime Investigation Bureau.
Authorities apprehended the suspect this morning around 10:25 at a hotel in the Yattogoda area in Kegalle before presenting him before the Kandy Magistrate's Court this afternoon.
