Sri Lanka, May 18 -- The statement made by Minister Upali Pannilage to the media, claiming that an official invitation was extended to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa for the National War Heroes Commemoration Day ceremony, is completely false.

Spokesperson for the former President, Attorney Manoj Gamage, made this clarification, adding that the 5th executive president received no such invitation for the victory commemoration scheduled for tomorrow (19).

Attorney Gamage stated to the media that the minister is attempting to mislead the public.

The spokesperson further elaborated on the matter:
