Sri Lanka, May 31 -- Bus fares will not be increased in the future despite the government taking steps to hike diesel prices, the National Transport Commission (NTC) emphasised.

The National Transport Commission notes that an immediate necessity to increase bus fares does not arise according to the existing bus fare formula, even in the face of the current diesel price revision.

The commission further stated that due to this, they will not allow an additional burden to fall on the passenger public utilising public transport services.
