Sri Lanka, July 25 -- An extraordinary gazette notification was issued amending the guidelines regarding the appointment of President's Counsel.

The gazette notification was issued by Secretary to the President Dr. N.S. Kumanayake on the order of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The gazette notification states that an attorney-at-law should not be appointed as a President's Counsel unless the relevant male or female lawyer served as a Supreme Court lawyer for a period of at least twenty years.

Meanwhile, applications were called for the appointment of President's Counsel.

Accordingly, a gazette notification was issued stating that applications should be submitted on or before August 31st.
