Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has announced a revised feed-in tariff (FIT) framework for renewable energy power generation, introducing premium rates for battery storage systems to avert potential power deficits in early 2027.

The new rates-enacted under Section 29(3) of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024-will come into force on 25 August 2026 and remain valid through 24 February 2027.

Arrived at following extensive public consultations, the updated structure integrates cost adjustments, stakeholder input, and national policy directives.
