Sri Lanka, March 12 -- A dedicated priority bus service for persons with disabilities will commence next month through the "Clean Sri Lanka" programme and the Ministry of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development.
This initiative aims to uphold the transit rights of a long-overlooked demographic and realize the government's vision of ensuring equal opportunities and human dignity for all.
Supported by a financial allocation of Rs. 430.7 million, the project focuses on removing physical barriers within the public transport system.
Ten modern, low-floor air-conditioned buses specifically designed for easy wheelchair access arrived at the Hambantota Port on the 10th.
