Sri Lanka, March 24 -- A 'National Steering Committee for Education Reforms,' comprised of industry experts, will be established to advance and regulate Sri Lanka's educational restructuring formally.
The Cabinet approved this body following a proposal by the Prime Minister in her capacity as the Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education.
New educational reforms for Grade 1 already commenced this year, 2026, in line with current government policies.
The next phase involves introducing these reforms to Grade 6 starting in 2027, and this newly formed committee will bear the primary responsibility of overseeing the entire process.
