Sri Lanka, Aug. 11 -- The new Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Wei Huaxiang, arrived in Sri Lanka today.

On arrival, expressing his deep gratitude and pleasure on his appointment, he said that being in Sri Lanka, "fills me with warmth and inspires in me a deep sense of longing and admiration."

The new envoy expressed that a traditional friendship that continues to grow stronger over time is enjoyed by China and Sri Lanka, rooted in ancient history. Over 70 years ago, the signing of the Rubber-Rice Pact stood as a testament to mutual support and solidarity in times of adversity.
