Sri Lanka, July 5 -- The number of inmates requiring medical treatment following a violent altercation between two groups at Negombo Prison this afternoon (05) rose to 34.

Two individuals died after being admitted to the hospital.

Authorities report that the cause of the conflict and the resulting unrest remains under investigation.
