Sri Lanka, Sept. 20 -- Nawalapitiya in the Kandy District recorded the highest rainfall in the island during the 24-hour period ending at 6:00 PM today (20), measuring 210 millimetres, according to the Disaster Management Centre.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre stated that the Kothmale and Ambagamuwa Divisional Secretariat divisions in the Nuwara Eliya District also received a heavy rainfall of 185 millimetres during the same period.
