Sri Lanka, Oct. 25 -- The Navy states that the total weight of the drug consignment discovered early yesterday morning at the Thalalla beach in Matara reaches 561.705 kg, with an overall value exceeding Rs.11.8 billion.

The recovered narcotics include 321.941 kg of heroin and 239.764 kg of ice, according to the Navy.

Navy records indicate this seizure marks the largest drug haul secured from a land area in the country during this year.

Authorities found the large quantity of narcotics packed inside 10 sacks and 11 luggage bags, which police suspect belong to the network of an alleged drug trafficker known as Dehibale.
