Sri Lanka, Oct. 17 -- Reports claiming that several power plants broke down are untrue, according to the National System Operator (NSO).

The organisation states that following the breakdown in the national power system, only the Norochcholai coal power plant was shut down safely according to proper procedures.

Restoration work on the power system has proceeded successfully since noon today, and the NSO expects to restore the entire system by around 6.30 in the evening.
