Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organiser and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa suggested to the Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya to avoid yielding to political promises and reflect on the outcomes faced by previous police chiefs who aligned with political factions.

Speaking in Parliament, Rajapaksa stated that law enforcement leadership must remain independent while utilising allocated state resources effectively. Rajapaksa questioned official claims regarding public relief initiatives, noting that agricultural workers continue demonstrating over fertiliser shortages and absent guaranteed paddy prices despite parliamentary announcements.
