Sri Lanka, March 9 -- A 23-year-old motorcyclist died after being attacked by a wild elephant on the Habarana-Trincomalee road earlier today (09). Habarana Police confirmed the fatality occurred after the victim was hospitalised.

The deceased, a resident of the Agbopura area in Kantale, was travelling from Kantale toward Habarana when the encounter took place in the Galwanguwa area. Following the confrontation, the youth was initially admitted to the Habarana Hospital before being transferred to the Dambulla Hospital for further treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Habarana Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
