Sri Lanka, Oct. 16 -- Monks and supporters demanding the immediate release of Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera remain gathered on the road opposite the Presidential Secretariat as of this morning (16), following the Maha Sangha's launch of the 'March for Freedom,' according to our correspondent.

Special police security remains deployed around the Presidential Secretariat premises.

After the monks who joined the march requested a meeting with the Secretary to the President, Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake arrived and asked for about 10 minutes.

A tense situation arose when another official arrived at the location after 10 minutes instead of the Secretary to the President.
