Sri Lanka, March 8 -- Rising global costs and supply chain disruptions linked to Middle East instability will inevitably impact domestic prices, the government has warned.
Wasantha Samarasinghe, the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Cooperative Development, stated that international price hikes are a trend beyond local control. He noted that any reduction in the global supply of fuel and gas would naturally result in a surge in costs for the consumer.
Addressing the media, the Minister explained that the volatile situation in the Middle East is creating a significant challenge for all nations reliant on maritime shipping routes for trade.
