Sri Lanka, April 17 -- The overall Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for the manufacturing sector rose by 4.1% in February 2026. The Department of Census and Statistics reported an index value of 97.3 for the month, identifying fabricated metal products and apparel as the primary drivers of this year-on-year increase.
Monthly data shows the sector grew by 0.3% in volume compared to the previous month. The report views this as a positive turning point and a favourable economic signal, suggesting a recovery in industrial output and progress toward national economic development.
