SriLanka, March 22 -- A 61-year-old resident of Attanakadawala died after being attacked by a wild elephant in the Konduruwawa area of Diyabeduma.

The victim was travelling by motorcycle with another individual to guard a crop lookout hut when the encounter occurred yesterday afternoon (21), Diyabeduma Police stated.

The injured man was initially admitted to the Diyabeduma Hospital and later transferred to the Polonnaruwa Hospital for further treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.
