Sri Lanka, Feb. 19 -- A 26-year-old individual lost his life in the Kalankuttiya area within the Hurigaswewa police division after a tractor overturned into a canal.

Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred yesterday (18) evening when the driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling along the canal bank.

The driver sustained critical injuries and was immediately admitted to the Thambutthegama Hospital, where he later passed away.

The deceased was a resident of the Kalankuttiya area.

Preliminary police observations suggest that excessive speed or driver negligence contributed to the vehicle veering off the road.
