Sri Lanka, May 30 -- To mark the sacred birth, enlightenment, and the Parinibbana or the passing away, of Lord Buddha, "Hiru Shakya Sinha Mangalya" organised with devotion by the Hiru Media Network, including Hiru TV and Hiru FM, commenced early this morning (30) at the historic Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya premises.

The event was held, giving priority to a range of meritorious religious activities, including offerings and practices.

Incense offerings, lotus flower offerings, and determination offerings were conducted for the historic Mahiyangana Stupa, along with a merit-making ceremony to illuminate the stupa with over 100,000 six-coloured electric bulbs.
