Local gold prices surge
Sri Lanka, July 22 -- The All Island Jewellery and Pawnbrokers Association stated that gold prices in Sri Lanka increased again today (22).
While a sovereign of 24-karat gold sold for Rs. 377,000 yesterday (21), its price rose by Rs. 3,000 today to reach Rs. 380,000.
Accordingly, a sovereign of 22-karat gold is sold today at Rs. 349,600.
Meanwhile, one gram of 24-karat gold sells for Rs. 47,500 and one gram of 22-karat gold sells for Rs. 43,700.
The association added that the domestic gold prices continue to fluctuate in line with price changes in the international market.
