Sri Lanka, Aug. 16 -- An alleged major drug trafficker Shiran Basik, who was brought to Sri Lanka from Dubai, has been engaged in transactions with terrorist organisations, Police Media Spokesman Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler said.

Attending a press conference yesterday (15), he said that steps are currently being taken to bring 72 other individuals to the country with red notices issued and are currently hiding abroad.

Permission was obtained to detain and question Shiran Basik for 72 hours according to the powers vested in the Superintendent of Police in charge of the Central Crime Investigation Division.
