Legal hurdles delay extradition of Arjuna Mahendran
Sri Lanka, Aug. 28 -- Legal hurdles exist to extraditing former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran, who is wanted by the court in connection with the Central Bank bond case, and authorities are examining other legal avenues, Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala stated.
A national newspaper reported today (28) that the Minister said Arjuna Mahendran, residing in Singapore as a citizen of that country, changed his name.
The Minister mentioned that under Singaporean law, there is no capability to bring a citizen of that country to Sri Lanka.
