Sri Lanka, June 19 -- The General Manager of the Lanka Salt Company was arrested this morning (19) over allegations of causing a loss of nearly Rs. 14.3 million to the government by acting outside proper procurement procedures.

The arrest was made by officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). The arrested official has been identified as R.M.G. Gunaratne, the serving General Manager of the Lanka Salt Company.

He was taken into custody at around 9.55 a.m. today by bribery commission officials.
