Sri Lanka, June 12 -- The State of Kuwait has issued new rules regulating the recruitment of domestic workers, allowing restricted hiring to 10 approved countries - including Sri Lanka - while banning recruitment from 27 other nations.

The directive, issued by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, is intended to enhance regulatory oversight and improve labour market efficiency.

Under the new system, Sri Lankan domestic workers remain eligible for recruitment.The process is to be administered through Kuwait's governorates, under new regulations.

The move follows recommendations and assessments from several government bodies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, and the Public Authority for Manpower.
