Sri Lanka, May 14 -- The Kothmale Gampola B 431 main road is temporarily closed following heavy rainfall in the Kothmale area.

Kothmale Police state that the road at Paragammana, which had previously experienced landslides, shows new cracks and a risk of further sliding.

Drivers are urged to use alternative routes until further notice.

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology reports that a low-pressure area situated to the northeast of Sri Lanka persists.

Forecasters expect the system to move away from the island within the next 48 hours.
