Sri Lanka, May 26 -- The foreign ministers of Japan and India have agreed to work together to ensure safe maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and maintain stable energy supplies.

The agreement was reached during bilateral discussions held alongside the Japanese Foreign Minister's visit to India.

Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu visited India yesterday to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting, involving Japan, India, the United States, and Australia.

During the visit, he held talks with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

At the meeting, Jaishankar expressed confidence that relations between India and Japan would continue to strengthen.
