Sri Lanka, March 25 -- Police Headquarters stated that the body of an infant, approximately two days old, was found on private land in the Palliyagodella area within the Meegaswewa police division.

Meegaswewa Police initiated an investigation yesterday (24) following the receipt of information.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the deceased is a female infant.

A magistrate's inquiry is scheduled to take place, followed by a post-mortem examination.

Meegaswewa Police continue to conduct further investigations into the incident.
