Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- A person suspected of being engaged in the meat trade by hunting wild animals in an organised manner for nearly seven years was arrested by wildlife officers.

The suspect was arrested during a sudden raid carried out jointly by officers of the Pimburattewa and Polonnaruwa range forest offices belonging to the Polonnaruwa wildlife zone, our reporter stated. The suspect is a resident of the Sittandi area, and our reporter added that several other suspects who were with him at the time of the raid fled the location while obstructing the duties of the wildlife officers.
